No we don’t we do not have any trained audiologist/audiometrist to conduct these tests or the appropriate equipment of course we can guide you as to where to go to get a test done

As Shhh is an independent organisation we don’t recommend audiologists however we are happy to share positive experiences that our hearing impaired volunteers have with their audiologists and pass on contact details.

No you can’t we do not sell Hearing Aids you need to see an audiologist.

The hearing aid bank is a program designed to help needy people who “fall through the cracks” and do not qualify for the government voucher scheme. There is an application process and you need to be a low-income earner to qualify.

Hearing aids are just that an aid they will not restore your hearing to the level you had before acquiring a hearing loss but they will in most cases offer a huge improvement…you need to persist with them.

This varies greatly depending on the features of the hearing aid and number of programs they generally start around $2000 and you can go as high as $12000 for one aid.

No not at all, visitors are welcome on our open days of Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 10am -3pm if you prefer to make an appointment we are happy to do that too.

An ALD as it’s commonly referred to is an “Assistive Listening Device” these various devices can help you hear a  TV better, make you aware of a door bell, alarms, telephones etc.
